A standard tow truck lifts one end of a vehicle and rolls the other end on its own wheels. That works because a car’s weight is fairly evenly distributed and light enough for a single lift point to handle.

  4. Recovery and transport. Once secured, the rig is lifted, righted if necessary, and towed — ideally without ever removing the cargo. This last part matters more than people realize.

Unloading a trailer roadside sounds like a simple fallback, but it rarely is. Depending on the cargo, it may require specialized equipment just to unload it safely (refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, oversized freight), a second vehicle to receive it, and hours of additional time — all while the original truck is still blocking a shoulder or lane.
